First Visit Expectations

Children’s Dental is the only dental office in Galveston, TX, solely dedicated to pediatric dental care.

We want your child to feel good about visiting the dentist and understand the importance of taking care of their teeth.

Before their visit, please refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as “needle,” “shot,” “pull,” “drill,” or “hurt.” We are experienced in working with children who may feel anxious and can explain treatment procedures in a positive and reassuring way to help minimize fear or negative feelings about dentistry. We also encourage children to share any fears or concerns they may have.

Your child’s first dental visit is a wonderful opportunity for us to build rapport with your child.

First, we will complete a comprehensive review of your child’s medical and dental history and discuss any particular concerns or needs you may have. We will help your child become comfortable with our team and the dental environment at a pace appropriate for their age and individual needs. We will then complete a comprehensive oral examination, cleaning, and, when appropriate, topical fluoride treatment. Radiographs (x-rays) may also be recommended at this visit.

Our team will give you a summary of your child’s dental exam and answer any questions you may have about your child’s oral health.

We value the trust you place in us as part of your child’s healthcare team and appreciate your cooperation in creating a positive, confidence-boosting experience for your child.
